A Little Intro

My name is Ponyboy Curtis, and I'm a greaser. I sure am proud of it. I've got two older brothers, Darry and Soda. We're greasers, all three of us. We're all such close friends in that gang, like brothers. I'm the youngest of them all. Where are my parents? Well, they had both died in a car accident. Ever since, Darry and Sodapop took care of me. Actually, we all take care of each other. I love readin' and learnin', and especially watching sunsets. I don't got much time to do that anymore, watching sunsets, I mean. I'd really love to see one right now, since my life fell apart so quickly. Now, the most I could do is listen to music when I'm down. Ever since Johnny died... It's been hard for me. Not only was it hard for me, it was hard for the whole gang. Johnny had been so quiet and nervous all the time. He had been neglected and abused by his parents. I felt bad for him. He was smart, but didn't get good grades in school. A good guy, a hero. Dallas Winston (Dally) on the other hand was the opposite. In fact, I didn't even know he had feelings. Only anger, although I always knew he had loved Johnny. He cared about him so much. But the way he treated Cherry was just plain disrespect. Dally's ice cold blue eyes. Full of danger and full of hate. Dallas was a trouble maker, especially with the fuzz. Not such a big surprise. Stealing things and pickin' fights and all that. He ain't the type of guy I would hang around. I felt bad for him, too. Got shot by the fuzz after the rumble, after he robbed a grocery store. Poor guy, he was probably so frustrated about Johnny's death. I guess there were two sides of Dallas Winston that nobody really understood.

  1. I understand what you were talking about, Ponyboy. My name is Max and I had a tragic death in my life. My friend Kevin, who had been bullied and called "Freak". There was another side to him, kind of, too. He never told anyone his problems. He had a problem with his body. Only his insides were growing, not his outsides. It surprised me how he had never told anyone, and no one ever knew until he died. Anyway, sorry for your loss!
